Nostalgia? System Shock 2

Postby velkairiwyth on Thu Sep 27, 2007 4:51 pm

With the release of Bio-shock and my inability to get it at present, I was reminded of its "spiritual predecessor" - System Shock 2 - which I have played many many times. Sure its 7/8 years old now... but I wanna play it again.

I googled it and it appears to be Abandonware - so I think it can be downloaded for free :) - Think I might try this later on tonight... the games going for £15-£20 on Ebay - almost as much as Bioshock can be had for!

anyhoo. Who else enjoyed this lovely little game :D I spent a few mins browsing wikipedia - and scarily enough, i could hear the quotes from the wiki-quote section in my head :p

Ill provide a link if I manage to get it downloaded from abandonware sites. I feel a bout of psionicism coming on...

Got it off Underdogs (i think) a couple of weeks ago. Didn't work too great on XP. There's a whole host of advice on how to fix it right enough, but none of it worked for me.

Shame as well cos it was quali-T

Got it from the Underdogs torrent about two weeks ago. Never did get around to playing though... But the torrent worked!

Hehe, I gave in and downloaded bit-torrent last night.

Downloading - but taking a while.

Seen a few patches to upgrade to windows xp and higher textures. Will give them a go once I have it working. (If... I cant remember if once its downloaded I just install it or if I need something to open the torrent file, or an emulator like Alcohol 120 or what. Its been literally years.)

usually you get a zip- or rar-file due to torrent download ... almost easy to unpack ...
in case of more requirements the unpacked files should include a "how-to-deal" with it
if it doesn't I'd check related forums for further advice
