Wii

Postby Orakio on Fri Sep 29, 2006 1:41 pm

Just a small notice that I've pre-ordered a Wii at the local shop. I hope it will renew my interest in consoles, although I'm fairly sure it will! :D

I don't get the Wii... :|

I thought the point of gaming was to be able to have great adventures without having to move anything else than your fingers. Wouldn't want games to start resembling exercise, now would we?

I mean, the Eyetoy is a party game, like twister. Isn't that the fate of the Wii as well?

If I want to adventure/imagine/create and get addicted to something, I'll use my PC. :)
If there are two things that look pretty obsolete to me, it's the PS3 and X-box360. Why use them if you can crack away on your PC?

If I want to have mindless fun by myself, or with people that are not overly interested in MMORP and other PC games, I'll play on the wii

On top of that, Zelda and the prospect of a star wars game looks nice, and it's reverse-engineered to play old games of consoles as well. I know, I know, I can emulate everything I want, but playing them on your TV adds that little touch of authenticity that those games had. (FF VI, chrono trigger, the streets of rage series,...)

believe it or not, i really don't like playing on my pc. consoles are far less hassle to keep up to date with and it's far easier to talk to friends over xbl than teamspeak or something like that. i really wouldn't support the comment that ps3 and 360 are obsolete, there are so many franchises that you see exclusively to these that assures their success, plus the online aspect (of 360 at least, have to wait and see what sony's is like) is just amazing on these things

I wasn't saying anything like that. I was just wondering whether playing on a Wii could be fun.

What I like about games is that I can play an incredible jedi without actually being able to swing a light-sabre. I mean, I would probably be crap at swinging a light-sabre, but luckily I have pretty nimble fingers on a keyboard or a gamepad.

But but but it's Nintendo. Doesn't that put you off straight away?

Plus all consoles should be named (or at least pronounceable) in English, the one true language of mankind

ps - yes yes i know, i'm a shit stirring bastid.

I'm still thinkign about this one. considering that my second favorite game of all time is comign out with a 3rd edition on my pc ealry next year, I doubt I'll have much of a life :)

I however never liked consoles. especially the awful button pushing rampage that most games bring. the btuton pushin is one of the things I don't enjoy abotu mmorpgs either. though I might enjoy not having to sit on the same chair all the tiem when I game. a nice change to the couch might be nice.

as for not havign the motor skills of a jedi. as I undertsand it the wii thingymething games translate clumsy to jedi... so you'll prolly feel all elegant and such ;)

now I just need to go to a local store and threaten them to get me one on time :)

The best consoles and the best games are made in Japan.
And japanese isn't really that hard to pronounce.
It's just hard to read and understand, but that's what DeJap is for. :D

I really can't see the point in consoles and i dont much like them either. I don't think they're more fun to play than my pc and, at least in DK, the games are much more expensive. Like 10-20 pounds more for new games. So for me, upgrading my pc once in a while is so much more rewarding. I like to play strategy, fps and rpg's. And playing that kind of games on a console is just pure crap. A gamepad cannot replace the efficiency of my mouse

Only with the newer consoles can the graphics begin to compare to the pc at its best. And i want my games to look friggin great

But hey! That's just me :D
Games don't make people violent. Lag does...
