some adds:

char-creation:
you pick a faction per server, so if you create a Pirate-toon on
server 1 you will be only able to create other Pirate-chars on this server

Avatar Combat:
I found it relatively poor as well, but seems to be a basically working well
system to be improvable and becoming more interesting at higher lvls and
during PvP-melee-combat when you grapple other player's ships.

Economy:
Personally I like the restriction to 10 lots per account which disables the
uber-solo-crafter-carreer, but still allows and even forces to cooperate with
other players of your nation or hire lots from other players. As well I am quite
sure there will be lots of whyners, so maybe we can expect 1-2 additional lots
in the not so far future.

Faction-points:
Didn't get all of the faction-point-system, but this will determin which harbours
and inside harbours which brokers will be available for you.
As well there is a certain system to manipulate the so-called unrest with certain
harbours in order to publically open PvP-zones and win other nation's harbours.

Freetrader:
Freetrader are available classes for the 3 nations of Britain, Spain and French,
especially designed to fullfil improved economy tasks. If I got it right freetraders
are able to play with their faction-points too in order to get access building
structures at enemy harbours as well.

Item-xchange between multiple chars:
You may actually only xchange items via the broker-system. There prices are
shown just hidden, so you are able to offer items for 1 doublone, quickly switch
to alt and buy it for 1 doublone ...

can only agree to your comments and judgements ... wouldn't play it myself with
any high priority compared to Vanguard, but would really like it as a side game. So,
if I get a station-pass managed, I'll take some time sailing.

Another thought concerning the amount and variety of servers they will offer for
release. This gives really a nice outview ... they seem to have lots of preorders
to implement so many more servers compared to Vanguard ... and as all in all the
bugs and performance encumbrances are a lot lower compared with Vanguard, we
can expect them to start developing additional content a lot sooner.

ouh ... concerning a guild in Pirates ...
I am not up to start a guild in Pirates, but would appreciate, if we would get it
managed to have a small community out there ...
Personally I'd always prefer to chose one of the euro-servers as it's main server
and would start a nation's guild, either british or spanish, with an individual priority
on a spanish guild as I liked the touch and music there better than amongst the
britains. Nothing against the Pirates, but for guildlife the nations offer the better
variability with the 3 different classes to be chosable ... no reason, not to run a
pirate-char on another server too ... ;-) ...

so, good luck to this refreshing alternative MMO ... and a happy new year ... ;-) ...

More importantly for the real crafter/economic whores, this also means you can set up a bunch of alts and "trade" your lots with people on your own server. It's a bit of work initially but it worked well in SWG.

yep ... always like this more organisationally challenging method for the uber-economists/crafters ...
